When launched in July 2008, Honda’s CBF Stunner offered buyers a great combination of big – bike styling and 125cc fuel efficiency. Add to that quotation a price that didn’t burn a hole in your pocket and it’s easy to understand why the Stunner has become quite a hit. Now, in its attempt to take the game further, Honda has launched the Stunner with its proven PGM – FI technology. AutoCar (July ’09) takes a first look.

Visually, minor details differentiate this fuel – injected Stunner from its carbureted sibling. The front forks, cylinder block and head have been given the all – black treatment. The muscular tank, now painted black as standard lends the bike a stylish appearance. The new Stunner does away with prominent racy graphics on the original model’s tank and fairing. A dull golden finish can be seen on the neat crankcase. Towards the rear, the silencer heat shield has been given a brushed finish, while an attractive new sporty cover leaves most of the chain exposed.

The CBF Stunner PGM-FT’s 124.7cc single-cylinder, air cooled, four-stroke engine delivers a peak power output of 11.6bhp at 800rpm, a negligible 0.6bhp more than the original Stunner.

Honda’s intelligent PGM-FI fuel-injection system supplies highly pressurized fuel for combustion. The system’s ECU calculates the quantity of fuel supplied using information from eight different sensors, including an oil sensor and oxygen sensor. The bike also deploys a bank angle sensor to safely cut its fuel supply lines to the engine in the event of an accident.

Although we’re yet to verify this, Honda claims the CBF Stunner is capable of delivering 65kpl with the benefit of PGM_FI and reaches a to speed of 100kph.

The bike deploys a single downtube frame retaining the original Stunner’s front telescopic fork and hydraulic rear shock absorber setup. As before, the bike rides on 17-inch tubeless tyres both on the front and rear.

The CB Stunner PGM-FI will be sold in a single fully-loaded variant with a front disc brake and electric starter being part of standard equipment. The bike will be offered in two dual-tone paint schemes-red-black as well as silver-and –black.

With an asking price of Rs. 66,640 (ex-showroom, Pune), the CBF Stunner PGM-FI becomes the most expensive 125cc motorcycle in India. In fact, at this price the bike is more expensive than most 150cc motorcycles.
